Not sure of this is the right section but I figure some of you are experts in gaming, and know much more than me. Thanks to this community, I was able to buy a PS4. (Yes I know I am a console peasant, unworthy of PC master race etc etc..)
But I have a question. On dorms I don't have a tv, and never really needed one for the past 4 years. Not even a radio for that matter (Spotify <3), but now I bought one yesterday for my ps4. It's a 23" IPS 1080p beauty, but it doesn't get shipped until later.
In the mean time, my ps4 is a very expensive paper weight. I want to know if there's a way to connect my ps4 to my laptop screen, to my ps4.

My laptop has a hdmi port (video out) but I dont think it was meant for video In.
I do not have a capture card.

    Is this still possible?

    Thanks.

can you not just plug the hdmi cable in to your laptop as opposed to the tv?

nvm just read you don't have an input. In this case no you can't, a capture card won't work either afaik.

nope, the HDMI port is output only. Unless I'm extremely out of date with this, you generally wont have any input facilities on your laptop. I'm fairly certain that 99.9% of laptops wont have an input feature on them unfortunately :(

You should be able to with a hdmi to lvds bridge but it's not really a good solution unless you are doing some proper modding.
